ROUTES AND MAPPING
Below is a series of navigation files and descriptions for the Holland Tour – not forgetting the infamous Google Flyovers!

GARMIN USERS – please copy the GPX files to your “NewFIles” folder on the unit to assist with navigation

GARMIN EDGE 25 USERS – your devices need the FIT files (GPX incompatible)

GARMIN MAP USERS – the best Holland map can be found here free to download - http://www.openfietsmap.nl/downloads/bnl_full - download the ZIP file and copy the gmapsupp.IMG file to your device for up to date compatible maps.

SMART PHONES – Most smartphones are compatible with this free, offline mapping app - http://maps.me/en/home - this app is compatible with the KML file and will allow anyone to “find themselves” if unplanned separation occurs.

Day 1 – Hook of Holland to Amsterdam – 60.4 miles
This route follows the national bike route LF1 immediately from the port north along the coastline to Zandvoort where we then head inland east on route LF20. This takes us through the park immediately adjacent to the hostel. Both these bike routes appear very solid and tarmac’d (!!)

Day 2 – Amsterdam to Rotterdam – 67.6 miles
This route is completed inland, heading through the city on route LF20 before heading south on route LF7 followed by LF2.  We take the Eastern branch of the LF2 more rural through GOUDA down to the river and Windmill town of Kinderdijk. We then follow the river into the heart of Rotterdam where we then find our hostel.

Day 3 – Rotterdam to Hook of Holland– 22.4 miles
An easy water side ride back to the port. We pick up the LF2 again in Rotterdam immediately followed by route LF11 to get as out of town. Then route LF12 takes us west along the river. At marker 37 route LF12 turns inland where we appear to be able to maintain the unnumbered water side bike path directly to the port.
